I don't have an answer to your question because I've only ever built one, a=
nd haven't experimented with varying the dimensions.
But I have a related question: Most of the partially or fully baffled boun=
dary mics I've seen use rectangular(ish) baffles. What would be the result =
of using a round boundary surface? What would be the result of a deckled or=
serrated edge on the boundary surface?
Actually, I do have one idea to toss out in answer to your question: If yo=
u're looking at stereo boundary mics that fit well in a backpack, Olson's W=
ing design is pretty compact. It doesn't behave the same as an SASS, but if=
the height-compressed SASS doesn't do what you want it's another design to=
look at.
