1a. Permissions to broadcast recordings from Nature Recordists

I have a general question for the group of nature recordists here.
I, and I assume others, produce radio programs. For instance, I have a weekly
program on a community station here in Michigan. My program is a kind of
freedom program of world music. It's not primarily a nature program. But the
sounds being submitted here on Soundcloud and other platforms, or as single
submitted files, are quite suitable for radio broadcast.
Am I correct in assuming that we may broadcast your submissions ? --- with
proper credit given of course, and perhaps even mention of websites and so
forth.
I am writing to the group to get a sense of the issue, rather than writing
individual emails to each recordist, just to bring up the matter.
Some of the recordings here, imagine if you will the various "early morning"
sequences, work marvelously as openings to radio programs, and can really set a
tone for the music that follows.
Best, Randal Baier

Hi Randal,
I'd say you'd always have to contact the recordist in question.
All the best,
Daan

Hello, Randal,
You are welcome to use my recordings at http://hljod.blog.is. I know
that they have been on some broadcasting stations in the States, as well
as in China and several European countries.
Please note, that they are not intended to be used as a music mix.
Best regards,
Arnthor Helgason

One set of files that you may use without asking permission is those
released under an "open licence" - for example, the Creative Commons
licences CC-by and CC-by-SA. The "by" part requires that you give the
required attribution (usually naming the recordist).
It's considered courtesy, but also not required, to notify the
recordist if you use a file.
All files on Wikimedia Commons are under open licences (or something
even less restrictive)

Late response to thread-- sorry...
You might want to check out the Ambisonic Toolkit at
www.ambisonictoolkit.net.
As I recall, they have a plugin that takes a quad input and encodes it to
B-Format ambisonics. This signal can then be rotated, or otherwise altered
and distributed to 5.1 or any format. One can also encode each of the quad
channels to b-format and individually rotate etc. Blue Ripple Sound has
also has free VST's that do similar things and includes visualizers that
are very effective in representing where your sound energy is in
3-dimensions.
All of these plugins work well with Reaper.

Dear all,
I would like to share with you a new release on our LOM label.
It is called Aqua Radio, it was recorded by project SALA and you can
find it here: https://zvukolom.bandcamp.com/album/aqua-radio
It consists of unprocessed hydrophone recordings of underwater nature -
insects and plants.
You can download it for free (enter 0 as price) or get a CD.
Enjoy!
Jonas
