I may not be thinking this through correctly, but it seems to me the stereo
effect from hundreds of feet in the air would be rather reduced.  Stereo
effect is based on the difference in distance (and arrival of sound) of the
source to two separate receivers (e.g. your ears).  When you are on the
ground, that distance is simply based on the straight line distance to the
object (assuming nothing is between you and there aren=92t any large
reflectors).  The further you are from the two objects (assuming they are
not 180=B0 separated), the less stereo effect there would be because the
relative distance between them is reduced.



The same thing would happen if you increased your distance up in the air,
except that now almost every sound source coming from the ground will be
relatively further away so the stereo effect would be reduced.   You might
need to consider the fact that there is always a large complicated reflecto=
r
(the ground) behind each sound source relative to your new position.



I don=92t know if that is true, but it seems logical to me.



As for wind issues, a helium or weather-type balloon will =93fly=94 in no w=
ind.
Why not start there?
