A cheap and very second-hand lighting stand will do the trick (as recommend=
ed by Chris Watson), as they are very light weight, and with a cheap ball-h=
ead that can use a =E2=85=9C=E2=80=9D camera plate (Arca-Swiss compatible a=
s there are many more choices available) to attach to the microphone grip. =
The only slight problem with the lighting stand is that doesn=E2=80=99t hav=
e adjustable legs, as it=E2=80=99s designed for level surfaces, but the leg=
s can be splayed quite widely to keep it from toppling over. If this is a c=
oncern, then a light weight second-hand tripod would be suitable as you=E2=
=80=99d have adjustable legs to deal with uneven surfaces. You don=E2=80=99=
t need anything too sophisticated as it isn=E2=80=99t having to deal with a=
n unwieldy, and possibly heavy, camera and lens set-up. I have a Manfrotto =
lighting stand, bought for =C2=A325. I was thinking, just this afternoon, t=
hat I might need to find a suitable cheap ball-head to go with it to make u=
sing the Telling parabolic more accurate in its focus. With other mikes and=
 Rycote blimps, then it isn=E2=80=99t strictly necessary as the Rycote hand=
le can be manoeuvred and locked into position reasonably easily. For photog=
raphy (up to 4=E2=80=9D x 5" cameras), I have a Gitzo Basalt Explorer tripo=
d, together with an Arca-Swiss D4 head. I wouldn=E2=80=99t dream of letting=
 that combination out of my sight as the head alone was over =C2=A3800 and =
it=E2=80=99s OTT for sound recording.
