Double MS can with the decoder deliver you discrete 5.0 stems. It=E2=80=99s=

a VST plugin or standalone not sure.=C2=A0

Binaural check out soundman.de =C2=A0

Thanks for your thoughts :)

Here is my basic understanding:

DPA 4060 =3D 20 mV/Pa

Primo EM172 (used by Teling Clip-ons) =3D 39.8 mV/Pa

However, this value is valid for 1kHz, it can vary based on frequency.

That means Primo is more sensitive. Just wanted to point out that self-nois=
e is not the only spec affecting the final noise figure.

Does anyone have sensitivity of DPA 4060 vs Telinga clip ons?

Hey Eric,

I think it is not enough to just look at the self-noise specs - the

sensitivity matters as well. More sensitive the microphone, the less gain

you need =3D> less noise.

As far as I know the clip-ons use two Primo EM-172 capsules in parallel -

so you can check the data sheet for those.

Olympus LS-11 seems to be a popular option for a portable recorder with

plug-in power.

Yeah, my NT5's have ~15dB self-noise and I wouldn't want to go any higher

than that. On that front the Telinga's win hands down (14dB for Clip-on's,

12dB for EM-23 vs. 23dB for DPA - if I read the specs right).

But it looks like I can't power the Telinga's with my PMD661, so what

would be your recommendation for a portable high quality (and reasonably

affordable) field recorder to use with the Telingas? Also, what exactly are

the differences between the Clip-On and EM-23? I can't figure it out from

the website.

Thanks for your help,

Eric

There doesn't seem to be a lot of info/specs on the Telinga website.

What is the difference between the

Clip on mics

http://www.telinga.com/products/pro-series/microphones/stand-alone/clip-on-=
microphones/

These have dual electret capsules in each mic, omni pattern, flat.

And the EM-23 Pair

http://www.telinga.com/products/pro-series/microphones/stand-alone/em-23-pa=
ir/

EM-23s have a single, larger diaphragm. Omni pattern. Frequency response

rises then rolls off.

Can I use both with my Marantz PMD661?

The 661 doesn't supply PIP power on a 3.5mm jack. You could use the Niant

phantom-to-PIP adaptor.
