Thanks, Flawn. The other thing I noticed is that the DM-620 lacks the
pre-record buffer. But since I'm planning to use the timer that is
not a problem. And since the purpose is merely identifying presence
of bird species, and not producing pro-quality sound recordings, the
s/n is not so critical either. One review I read said the audio
quality on this is not nearly as good as the LS-7, but gave no
specifics as to what that means. Maybe they had the "voice tailoring"
turned on!

I'd love to hear if anyone has used this in the field.
