I've recently purchased the DolphineEar Pro hydrophones, the hiss level isn=
't too bad but it does depend on how much gain is being used. I've found th=
at for ponds/rock pools gain level can be set fairly low without any signif=
icant hiss, with recording the sea you sometimes do have to crank up the ga=
in for certain sounds and the hiss does start to become apparent but also y=
ou'll pick up a lot of manmade underwater sounds i.e. boats, engines etc.
