 The high frequency boost on the MKH20 affects only the top octave or so of=
 the mike's response. So it's a long way removed from the frequency range o=
f other mikes' low frequency rolloff. You can also boost the high frequency=
 directivity of the MKH20 by slipping on a rubber O-ring and lining it up f=
lush with the front grille.=0D

 I've used these mikes for wildlife recording (including in a quad array fo=
r surround sound) and they are lovely. Very low self-noise, very nice tonal=
 character, very natural low frequency response (unlike anything cardioid, =
with or without roll-off), and great immunity to humidity issues that plagu=
e other mikes. We also use them as main orchestra mikes for the Opera.=0D
