The high frequency boost on the MKH20 affects only the top octave or so of the 
mike's response. So it's a long way removed from the frequency range of other 
mikes' low frequency rolloff. You can also boost the high frequency directivity 
of the MKH20 by slipping on a rubber O-ring and lining it up flush with the 
front grille.

I've used  these mikes for wildlife recording (including in a quad array for 
surround sound) and they are lovely. Very low self-noise, very nice tonal 
character, very natural low frequency response (unlike anything cardioid, with 
or without roll-off), and great immunity to humidity issues that plague other 
mikes. We also use them as main orchestra mikes for the Opera.
