I was intending to try Marco's solution of buying a prewired short RA exten=
sion cable ("socket saver") and continue using my existing cable. Hopefully=
this won't eventually just double my problems.
I've no idea what brand of plugs my cable uses. I bought gold coloured ones=
with a metal shell, and they've worked ok till now. They were being sold i=
ndividually from a container of unpackaged plugs in an electronics shop, an=
d appear to have no branding on them. I've emailed the supplier to see if t=
hey know.
