A few years back, Chris, while doing some recording for the National Geogra=
phic, we followed spring as it moved 16 miles north each day along the 111 =
meridian from the Mexican border (Nogales) straight to the Canadian border =
(Chester, MT) that covered much of the area(s) you're considering. This was=
the route taken by many regional Native American tribes whose members were=
on vision quests largely because it is so stunning and amazingly alive wit=
h natural soundscapes. Our field recording efforts resulted in a natural so=
undscape and music album I did with Phil Aaberg (former Wyndham Hill artist=
and keyboardist for Peter Gabriel) called Meridian. Any part of this is an=
inspiring route filled with wonderful surprises.
