bat detectors have a different aim ...since now.
With a bat detecor you can listen bats in real time. Using a recording syst=
em you can analyze ultrasound, determine the specie presence, study the pre=
sence for a give time etc. If you have a multi channel system you can under=
stand the origin of the sound and to see the movement of the sound source, =
this both for bats, cetacean in ultrasound field and the same in audio fiel=
d.
For these devices I'm using a microcontroller with a frequency of 200 MHz a=
nd there's no limiting operating system.
Now tablet have 2 or 4 core with 1500 MHz and teorically they have a great =
computational power.
