Hi all,

Got out early Sunday in spite of D/S time to try out my new parabolic dish mic 
on the over-wintering Varied Thrushes that are here in Berkeley,  California in 
unusual numbers this year.  I had some luck in recording their songs which I 
have never heard before. In previous years they seemed to always leave for 
their Northwest breeding grounds before they were in a singing mood.  I hope to 
get some better recordings,perhaps in stereo as the dish does not do them 
justice but is a helpful study tool.Check it out here:

I used one of Saul Mineroff's clear acrylic dishes that was recommended to the 
group a while back.  I adapted a Rhode pistol grip and rubber mic mount that I 
had for a shotgun mic .  I use a Sennhieser ME 62 mic.  So far I am satisfied 
with it, especially the light weight.
