Subject: It is true that the disks had a propensity to fail and would even "lock up" if too many edits were performed. But compare to DAT tape's overly complicated helical scan head (alignment and flaking issues), QIC tapes (a "write only" medium), ZIP drives (click of death), etc. I used them all and, basically, they all sucked.
