Subject:	The microphone pre-amp on the portable units was much better than anything in the price range. In fact, it's still better than most field devices! The only limit is the 16-bit dynamic range imposed by the chip set.

Previous by Date:	These disks really were "mini" compared to the alternatives. Nowadays we have fingernail sliver memory cards, but compare them to cart, cassette, and reel., Unknown
Next by Date:	It is true that the disks had a propensity to fail and would even "lock up" if too many edits were performed. But compare to DAT tape's overly complicated helical scan head (alignment and flaking issues), QIC tapes (a "write only" medium), ZIP drives (click of death), etc. I used them all and, basically, they all sucked., Unknown
