The "Tresmic" system on the LS-14 sound intriguing. Apparently this adds in the
signal from a centre omni microphone to the stereo pair. This extends low
frequency fidelity from 60Hz to 20Hz. If they are smart, this third channel has
a low-pass filter engaged, so that *only* low frequencies get through from the
omni, thus retaining the stereo sound field from the two cardioids at those
frequencies where it matters.
(Did the LS-3/7 do this?)
In comparison with the already excellent LS-11, the stated battery life is an
incredible 46 hours. Given the performance of their other devices, I have no
reason to doubt this. But I am amazed.
Fingers crossed that these models sound like the LS-5/10/11 series and not the
LS-3/7.
