Thanks Paul ... I don"t mind the prompt at all and will sign up later.
Lovely recording of Ham Wall on soundcloud ... its a place I'm very fond of,
and have been involved with its development since the RSPB (who I work for)
bought the land in the mid 90s when it was nothing but fields and old peat
workings. What always amazes me is the speed in which a wetland has been
created ... most of those sounds were not there only 15 years ago. I notice you
use 2x ME66's which is something I've wondered about.
My favourite recording at Ham Wall is of the starlings departing their winter
roost at Dawn:

About a minute in the flock takes to the air an you hear this incredible jet
like whooshing as over half a million wings beat together - something that
completely amazed me.
But yes, it is also one of the noisier reserves - if its not the pumps (which
run automatically to maintain water levels, not just on Ham Wall but on
neighbouring land too) its the helicopters from Yeovilton!
all the best
Tony
