12 dB is rather a lot is the amplification wideband or a specific region?

My bumpmics gave something like 10 dB gain at 7.2 Khz to mitigate the hiss =
produced in the EM172 around 8 Khz. I wonder at this point if the group goe=
s "oh so thats what they were for..." - but I digress in a similar fashion =
to the interest comment.
