Hello everyoneThis is Sudipto Roy from Calcutta, India. I am happy to join =
this egroup and hope to learn from you all. I am a hobby bird call recordis=
t cum photographer. So far the focus was more on photography but gradually =
it is tilting more towards call recording. Problem is here in Calcutta I ju=
st don't know anyone who records bird calls as a hobby.=A0I use a very basi=
c Edirol R09 HR and a Rode Video Micpro for recording bird calls.=A0I am cu=
rrently researching to graduate to a slightly more elaborate system. In fac=
t my research brought me to this group (via earbirding.com). I am perhaps t=
hinking of a Tascam HDP2 and a Sennheiser ME66/K6 but it will take some tim=
e. One of the problems of procuring equipment in India is lack of availabil=
ity. Even if they are available they are atrociously taxed and hence double=
the price of what I see on B&H :-(I generally record a bird only when I se=
e it. But having recently solved a mystery recording of my own, I am
beginning to get hooked to the idea of recording whatever I hear and then =
solve the puzzle at home. It can be an addictive pastime.=A0Thanks for read=
ing this far.Sudipto
