<<heading to Peru in a couple months, any tips and recommendations would be= much appreciated. my rig was going to be a Neumann SKM 140 XY, straight to= a tascam DR 100. a Telinga mic of some sort, Sonic Studios binaurals, and = Sony PCM D50. biggest problem is the heat & humidity. from this esteemed group's experien= ce, what would be the best rig, setup? i need portability and will be recor= ding both nature and native voices.>> In my rain forest recording experience externally polarized condenser mics = (mine were AKG C451s at the time) failed immediately in the high humidity, = producing constant popping as the backplates arc'ed. However, a backup elec= tret condenser mic worked just fine. It looks like you have yourself covere= d in the likely event your Neumanns can't handle the humidity. Scott Fraser |
