So a fisrst update after recording and comparing the SASS with a dual boundary setup. The stereo localization of the SASS sounds very realistic. I can easily pinpoint the physical positions in the sound field. Sounds from the rear have a sound quite similar to how I experience them myself. I think a dual SASS will be very nice for realistic 4-channel surround ambiance recordings. But the dual boundary has a significantly superior Left Right separation, almost unnaturally so, but that is not at all bad in my line of work (FILM and TV). But it doesn't have any front rear localization at all (for natural reasons) and that does not really work a lot of the time. So what about a boundary shaped like this? # (although straight of course) Really just an extended square Has anyone tried anything like that? |
