I agree, if you have some "background" recording of the same location,
without foreground sounds nor invasive noises, you can just mix them (maybe
with some filtering) in stereo on the mono recording where you have your
preferred foreground songs. This way the foreground sound remain mono but
emerging from a stereophonic texture of ambience background sounds.
