You are totally correct of course. I was oversimplifying based on the fact =
we were discussing low-end products which tend to separate the two function=
s based on possible thresholds and permitted ratios, etc. Such tools genera=
lly do not provide a full complement of control parameters for both "compre=
ssor" and "limiter", but rather a subset based on the intended end result. =
Audacity, for example, provides a Compressor and also a Hard Limiter.
