Hi Daan,
I was in Tanzania in January 2010 for a more-or-less canned safari. We
booked through Roy's safaris, LTD, which was very accommodating and
well-priced. We were not there to record, although I wish we had been!
The bush is remarkably quiet compared to most places I've been, except
for wildlife sounds. I will never forget going to sleep listening to
lions roaring.
Roy's was very willing to customize safaris according to customers
desires. We also saw a number of other safari vehicles with only one
person (besides the driver), so that's not unusual. We visited several
national parks, including Ngorongoro and Serengeti, as well as spending
a day with the Hadzabe bushmen.
I hope you get to go, and I look forward to hearing your recordings. If
possible, you might want to push your holiday back to January or
February - that's between rainy seasons and the middle of the wildebeest
migration. If you would like any more details, don't hesitate to
contact me.
