Hi John - the 20th century composer Messiaen integrated transcriptions
of bird songs of all kinds into much of his music. Give him a google -
there's a cute archive video of him talking about birdsong in his music
here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3D9QdgUJss9BU, and loads of other
links (pieces like Le Merle Noir, or Oiseaux Exotiques).
There's 'The Maiden and the Nightingale' by Granados, and Respighi's
'The Birds Prelude'...I think you'd probably find clips of these online.
