Michael,

As a suggestion, as you work out a plan for how you want to set up your 
recorder with microphones and go about the trial and error of attempting 
this the first time, there are places you can rent microphones and whatever 
else you might need rather than spend money first and discover it was a 
mistake and there is a better way...

I wonder where you are located?  Just the general area, nothing specific...
