I would guess that it might be a species of shrew (or mouse). These critters are quite common on temperate land masses. A few years back I recorded a European common shrew (http://www.avisoft.com/sounds/Sorex_araneus.wav) in Berlin, Germany, which I believe sounds quite similar to Curt's recording. Regards, Raimund |
