Hi John--
Here's a Reaper Session with two means of doing it. In Track one is a
plug-in chain using the native plug-ins that come with Reaper. Track
3 uses Native Parametric EQ and +Matrix plugs from Tom Erbe. Track 2
has regions of the original without processing for reference.

The top M-S plug in the chain is set for L/R to MS and the lower MS
to L/R. Click on the green. FX buttons to open the FX chains with the
plug-ins. You can hear the effects in real time and simply mix out
what you hear. Maybe this will help makes it a bit clearer. Rob D.
