Is it possible that part of the phenomena is that the advances in inexpensi=
ve recorders are flooding the field with amateurs, who are enamored with th=
is new found capability and haven't yet become critical enough to value adv=
anced techniques, and are diluting the presence of established experts?

I don't hear all of the things more advanced folks do, at this point, so I'=
m happy with what my handheld puts out. As I go along, I ask questions and=
make comments, many of which may imply some lack of appreciation for the f=
iner points. The is a side-effect of ignorance.

But as I listen to other work and learn, my listening skills are improved, =
and I'm sensing that I will become more demanding in the future.

In the end, I think the population of those who really value making the fin=
est possible recordings is going to increase. A lot.
