I made a grammar error, the recorder _de-codes_ mic channels 1 and 2
into L/R. I looked it up in the SD manual and they use "decode." (I
have to remember its like spy terminology, the cardioid and figure 8
mic signals contain the "code,..")

I'm not sure why the verb "decode" is traditional and then the noun,
"Matrix," is used to describe the mixing patch that does the same
thing (thus Tom Erbe selecting the same term for the patch made into
a plug-in).

Neither "decode" or "matrix" lock firmly into language center,.. Two
terms that we didn't always have to add a qualifying phrase to like ,
"MS->L/R" would be nice.

I've pondered if there's something we can call the intra-stereo input
channel mixer "patch" that has an EQ plug inserted between two
+Matrix plugs?   Rob D.
