It depends largely on your gear list.=A0 Two bags is kind of how I do it.=
=A0 But I'm not doing any long hikes.=A0 A mile at most.=A0 And I'm not rec=
ording while traveling.=A0 One bag has batteries, spare media, and headphon=
es.=A0 Although I'm not thrilled about magnetic headphones in proximity of =
magnetic media.=A0 Most times I hang the headphones on the strap and tuck t=
he cord in the bag.=A0 And I built a cage for my field recorder plus preamp=
s.=A0 That cage is basically two kitchen plate racks taped together.=A0 And=
I've rigged up a shoulder strap that I pulled off of some day bag to throw=
it over my shoulder.=A0 They're both single straps so you have to be caref=
ul that the straps go on the SAME shoulder.=A0 Otherwise they get a bit of =
a choke hold on you.=A0 And none of this is waterproof yet.=A0 But on the c=
heap with short notice, I can put most of the rigging on my body and wear a=
poncho.=A0 Or if I'm not in mobile mode, a trash can (or trash bag) can do=
wonders
in a crunch.=A0 An empty (and dry) cooler as well.
My travel mode is actually 4 units of gear.=A0 Bag of accessories and rig o=
f field recorder stuff over my shoulder.=A0 One hand carring mic stand with=
the mics and cables on it.=A0 One hand carrying monopod with camcorder on =
it.=A0 The stand and monopod I can carry over my shoulders as well, but I h=
ave to be aware of my surroundings.=A0 I'm still figuring it all out myself=
.=A0 And I can reconfigure a lot of my gear to more compact type scenarios =
if needed.=A0 I've sort of stocked up on mini-tripods, desktop mic stands, =
clamps, and other gadgets.=A0 I still need a few more short cables, but eve=
n I have a budget.
