It's a difference you can hear when using a low noise mic like the Rode NT1-A (powered by a battery box). What is surprising is how quiet the M10's internal mics are, compared to the D50. I guess Sony figured that the M10 would be used most often in "point and shoot" situations, without external mics, while the D50 would be used with a more elaborate mic setup. Perhaps mic capsule technology has improved since the D50 was introduced in Fall of 2007. --oryoki |
