Hi Rob, The MZ-RH1 is perhaps an exception to the HiMD rule. As was reported by Jo= hn Beale several years ago the RH1 suffers from a regular - as every couple= of seconds - write noise that is at least 2dB worse than the average noise= floor. The RH1 also creates substantial noise when first entering record m= ode which made the first few seconds of most recordings unusable. http://www.bealecorner.org/best/measure/audio/RH1-noise/index.html I found this to be noticeable in quiet recordings made with AT3032's and wh= ich needed additional post-recording gain applied. An external preamp runn= ing into the RH1 line input produced excellent recordings. cheers Paul |
