"Is it possible for you to post small - say 5-10 second - uncompressed segm= ents of the files you are using to determine preamp self-noise?" Hi Paul, I'm afraid that I cannot find all the files of the various recorders that I= have tested so far. Though, here are the files for the Tascam DR-08 and DR-680 that I recorded = yesterday: http://www.avisoft.com/scratch/DR-08.wav http://www.avisoft.com/scratch/DR-680.wav The first section contains the -62.5 dBu reference signal and the second se= ction represents the (unfiltered) self noise floor with a 150 ohm terminati= on resistor at the microphpone input. Noise floor spectra of the two recorders created in Avisoft-SASLab Pro look= like this: http://www.avisoft.com/scratch/DR-08_vs_DR680.pdf It can be seen that the DR-08 exhibits a strong 1/f (pink) noise component = that is typical for low-power FET op amps. Regards, Raimund |
