Hi, I just received the new Tascam records and measured their noise floors: http://www.avisoft.com/recordertests.htm As expected, the preamplifiers of the DR-680 exhibit the same good noise pe= rformance as the HD-P2. Unfortunately, the DR-08 and DR-2d fall behind the = DR-07 and DR-1. All these new recorders provide an AUTO REC mode, which allows to record on= ly as long as a user-defined threshold is exceeded. As Oryoki already pointed out (http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/naturerec= ordists/message/40135), the DR-08 additionally provides a TIMER function th= at allows to record for a pre-defined time period. Regards, Raimund |
