Hi-- The TASCAM DR-680 looks like something recordists who have been wanting to get into surround work might want to look into. Manual: http://www.tascam.com/i-3902-232-128-0-1EC728EF.pdf Key, of course, will be mic input noise and I don't see much in the manual specs. They do state "60dB" of gain which is a good start and it looks like a comparable build to their other better recorders that do sport low noise pres,.. A 6-8 track recorder for $500 more than a good, 4 channel mic pre does sound too good to be,.. Fingers crossing anyone? I haven't looked into how it handles media for long duration recording when reaching file size limits. Rob D. -- |
