There are plug-ins that can attempt to reconstruct signal peaks that have b=
een clipped off. The overload distortion in your recording, unfortunately, =
isn't "clipping." It's the worst kind of electronic mangling, including pea=
k inversion and blanked intervals where the waveform is completely lost. Pr=
o gear shouldn't ever do that. I'd experiment to find out what was at fault=
and get rid of it (the gear). Mixer is the prime suspect. Put it on a benc=
h with an oscillator and oscilloscope and see how the input overloads.
