I have found a lot of conversation on this group useful and interesting, thanks,
I am a low end nature recorder. I have a sony minidisc, lavalier mics and ear
buds for headphones that all fit in a small waterproof tuperware container that
I have in my pack.
I was in camp in Botswanna (I'm coming to the wind screen part) when birds
started making wonderful chatter in a nearby tree. I started to record but
the wind was making a mess of my recording. So I took off my hiking socks and
turned them inside out (fuzzy side out) and hung the mics in the socks.
Worked great (well for my level of quality). I thought you all might find this
story of desperate lowend solutions amusing.
cheers,
