I've posted an 24bit wav of 2.5 seconds of predawn quiet and 25 seconds of =
post dawn with a call that peaks at -0.9dB in the same location. The gain =
on the HDP2 is set at around "9" which should translate to around 46dB gain=
- the Oade mod on the recorder boosts factory gain by 6dB.

the file is quietplusgstcall.wav
the predawn was fairly still but there were trees reasonably close so there=
might be a little leaf noise. in the second section gain is unaltered, bu=
t the Grey Shrike Thrust clipped the recording shortly after this segment, =
so I could have done with gain set a little lower. This should give you a r=
easonable idea of just how noisy these mics actually are. I'm not in any =
hurry to get them serviced.
cheers
