There's nothing here that will kill you apart from not being prepared...
I know you'll be fine Martin , but it's amazing how many tourists die
here
because they didn't let anyone know when to expect them back from a
quick walk for example.
A message for all of us on this list, no matter where we are from, I
think....
You're lucky Martin that you're coming at the best time of the year ,
Oct - Nov is great
because it's before the tourists arrive on mass and it's our spring/
summer. Thats no
guarantee that it'll be warm in the south , but still it shouldn't
snow (like it is at the moment down there)
I'd say the best route if you fly into Christchurch is to go over to
the West Coast and drive down to
Haast , Fox Glacier . Franz Josef Glacier , Milford Sound then
Invercargill (where you depart for Stewart Island)
on your way back, go up the east coast. It'll be a bit dissapointing
after the lush west , but still, it's pretty good!
