120km south of Christchurch is the Peel Forest. Problem: other than  
red deer and sheep on surrounding nearby farms, there are no  
indigenous wild four-legged beasts anywhere to be seen. Nothing at all  
dangerous. But the place is lovely. Also, the mountainous parts of  
Southland.
