Great topic, grant. A bicycle touring friend of mine always kept a rectangle of camping pad foam within reach - she called it her "couch." I now use a piece of neoprene the same way: it's waterproof and insulating. I also have become addicted to a tripod camp chair: it sure is nice to be up off the ground a bit, especially in tick season.
