I was in China a few years ago with field researchers who had to sit and 
observe animal behavior in the woods all day. Really needed hands-free to get 
on and off the mountain top where the study was being conducted. They tied a 
square of sheep skin onto their belts, suede side out and just long enough to 
cover their rear ends. Tough, light and padded.
