I've read some scary stories as well and this application would
demand a big pack. Even the NiMH cells are a big investment up front
and all of the Lion batteries I've tried acquire less dependable
output after 30 or so recharges even when I use a smart charger.

Excellent. Very useful. Thanks for the reminder. I'll have to think
the implications through. Maybe I need to determine if the lowest
levels of night time presence are 10 dB or more above the noise floor
of the line input for in my rural location. There's plenty of gain to
work with the increased sensitivity. I'll probably make the
adjustments with the MP-2 pots for the quiet sounds I work with,..
Seems like -70 dBFS should be okay,...

Sounds like the material you obtained is helping with the adjustment
process. I have quite a few hours of my Dad on tape, but it didn't
occur to me to record the service. Wish I had! Being able to hear a
recording of the voice of someone who has passed is a wonderful human
development isn't it? Recorded voice almost seems to transcend media
in the ways humans can receive it. I made a video for my wife's Dad's
celebration service (also this year) and everyone was comfortable
with the video and stills and then "fell apart" when they heard his
(recorded) voice. Rob D.
