bare also in mind that depending HOW the recording was made=0D
making a mono file out of a stereo one will probably introduce  =0D
certain artifacts=0D
and phase cancellations.. and that' s for sure an inferior quality  =0D
file..=0D

you can use a goniometer to check the correlation between the two  =0D
channels and thus mono compatibility, but the best I think is just  =0D
trust your ears..=0D
it might be a good idea to keep only of the two stereo channels as a  =0D
mono version ...=0D

if size is your problem though, you could just compress them in some  =0D
format like mp3 and achieve both stereo imaging and smaller size..=0D
