Are you using the Schoeps plug or making the patches in your
software-mixer? Or maybe your using one of the Schoeps boxes in the
field?

With four channels available on my recorder, I used a common fig 8
mic for the side, two front/rear omnis (not cardioid) and
experimented using a fourth omni mic pointed up which I panned to
center (in 5.1) and moved the speaker over head in the installation.
There are many M-S options in post which is good. Did you every try
using another, spatially separated fig 8 mic for the rear channels?
Seems like it could be good option to have some timing differences to
also employ in a surround mix reproducing a large setting,.. to use
that fourth channel for something,.. Rob D.
