I use the Schoeps CMIT Double M/S with a CCM 41 for the back and a 788T Sound Devices. I then process in Pro-Tools, first making all the mics equally sensitive by cutting the gains appropriately, adding and subtracting to get LRLsRs (and to divide by 2 in M+S/2, it seems best to reduce the sum by 4.5 dB rather than 6dB, following Tom Holman's advice), and then using Compressor making a Dolby Digital 5.1 ac3 file with those four tracks (no center) (see Wittek's article on the Schoeps site). It works beautifully. |
