Thanks Curt, I think the difference between my setting of 18 and yours of 2=
1 is probably down to the different ways we feed the Hi-MD. The tape-out ha=
s a slightly reduced level as compared to the XLR output according to the S=
ound Devices info.

Thanks for this, Phil. Your findings pretty much confirm that my input
setting of "21" is at least in the ballpark.

I agree. The combination of MixPre > Hi-MD provides excellent bang for
the buck -- so excellent that I waited a very long time before jumping
to the H2.

Yes, I use the 3.5 mm tape out. Audio will end up going into the
recorder unbalanced either way, so I figure I might as well use the
smaller, lighter connector. And the location of the "Tape Out" on the
MixPre makes for a much more compact package.
