not sure this is relevant to your question,
but just in case, I use an MP-2 with
Sennheiser MKH 20/30 or 40/30 combos to
drive the stereo mini inputs  for my
HD videocam and/or Hi-MD minidisk.

DUH....

there's also the stereo mini to Mono XLR conversion
that is necessary.
