If you overlay your GPS track plot onto Google Earth, it can be anything up to 500 metres out (at least in South Australia). Down our coast, on Google Earth, where they have 'joined' images there is a shift of just over 500 metres east/west between the northern and southern image of the area. I often wondered why my bike rides didn't line up with the roads I rode on. That's when I discovered the Google Earth errors See ths location that I'm refering to on Google Earth 35=B027'38.69"S 138=B017'55.87"E The shift is about 530 metres |
